District 146 Sets New Last Day of School After Snowy Winter

School District 146 has set a new last day of school as Wednesday, June 11. The District has used four snow days this winter, which pushes the last day of school back four days.

Assistant Superintendent Denise Bettenhausen said, “Five maximum snow days are built into our school calendar in case we should need to use them.  Since we used four days this year our new last day will be Wednesday, June 11.  What a brutal winter we all just experienced.”

The new date will affect all four of the District’s elementary buildings and the 6th and 7th graders at Central Middle School. The 8th graders last day of school will remain unaffected.  Their final day of school is June 3, the same day as their graduation.

“The Central Middle School graduation ceremony will remain Tuesday, June 3,” Dr. Jeff Stawick, D146 Superintendent said. “We considered whether to change the 8th grade graduation date, but it was set long in advance so families could make plans for out-of-town guests.  Changing this date would be too disruptive. Graduation will take place as scheduled.”
