Andrew High School Web Design students’ final exam provided a real world application of the skills learned in class as students created a website for a local business. Students worked in pairs to create a website for Paint Medix, a small business located in Orland Hills.
Owner Tony Hoekstra came into the class, discussed what he envisioned the website to look like and provided text and pictures. Students then asked questions related to the business in order to understand what the business is and where Hoekstra saw it going in the future.
Working in pairs, students competed for Hoekstra’s business. Once they completed the websites, the business owner came into the classroom and the students presented their websites and explained how and why they came up with the website they designed. Once all presentations were complete, the Hoekstra's had to decide which website they would go with.
