We've put together a list of great ways to keep your dollars here in  this holiday, ranging from the affordable to the unique. These gifts do, however, have one thing in common—they all come from local merchants.

Jewelry and Harley Davidson cycles? The two might not go hand-in-hand most of the time, but here at Al Blackman, the delicate art of jewelry crafting and the thunderous roar of a motorcycle have been natural partners for close to 70 years. Al Blackman sells a variety of handcrafted and custom pieces at his Tinley Park shop. Much of it is related to his second passion, motorcycles. This jewelry store is the perfect place to buy a beautiful piece for the masculine rider in your life.

On the other end of the spectrum is The Attic Door. This cute consignment shop is located in a converted house in Tinley Park. It carries everything from clothes, furniture and books to other treasures, like jewelry and art. Unsold items will be donated to .

The weather outside may be frightful, but that doesn't mean you can't continue the longstanding tradition of giving a two-wheeler on Christmas. Why not buy that bike from a local shop where employees are passionate about what they do? The team at My Bike prides itself on being an easy-going bunch — the Facebook page proclaims "no spandex required" — and employees do their best to get the right bikes fitted to the right customers.

Given the strong Irish ties in many communities throughout the Southland, an Irish gift is welcome under nearly any tree. Even when you can't make it over to the Emerald Isle, Irish Imports brings a bit of the land of green here to Tinley Park in the form of wool sweaters, T-shirts, plaques, art, and even cookies, candy bars and other food items. Fish and chips may not be the meal of the day on the 25th, but if your lucky gift recipients have an appreciation for all things Irish, their gratitude will last well into the new year.
