Diana's Kitchen Hits the Road for Southside Oktoberfest

Live music, beer and food are the highlights at the second annual Southside Oktoberfest at Toyota Park in Bridgeview.

Fans of Diana’s Kitchen in will have to travel Bridgeview for the next few days to enjoy her cooking.

Diana Petrauskis is closing her the doors of her local restaurant at 16707 S. Oak Park Ave. Friday through Monday so she can vend her wares at the second annual SouthSide Oktoberfest at Toyota Park.

“I’ll be there from 5-11 p.m. on Friday, noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and noon to 8 p.m. on Monday,” Petrauskis said Thursday.

Petrauskis will bring many of her specialties with her to Oktoberfest, including .

“Our specialty will be the pretzel burger,” she said. “It’s a hamburger served on a pretzel roll.”

Petrauskis said she was invited to the fest by one of its managers, whom she knows from her days at this season's .

Other food vendors include Durbin’s of Burbank, which will be selling Italian beef and sausage sandwiches, walking tacos and pizza; Bobak Sausage; Smakowski’s Deli; Home Bakery; Papa T’s of Burbank; Chicago Classics and Pina Coladas.

Also on the agenda for the holiday weekend are plenty of bands, a beer tent, and a carnival.

  • A Classic Car Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4, with cars competing in 33 different categories. Winners will get trophies and dash plaques. Two lucky car buffs will walk away with Best of Show and Participants Choice awards.
  • There will even be a beer stein holding contest.
  • General admission is $5, but kids 12 and under and seniors 65 and older get in for free. There is also free admission for anyone who shows up wearing Lederhosen or a Dirndl.
