Let it Snow (Finally): Winter Weather Advisory in Full Effect

The National Weather Service has issued a winter advisory for the the area. Snow and strong winds are headed our way, whether—or do we mean, "weather"?—you like it or not.

After a so far unseasonably warm winter for the Southland—and the nation as a whole— the National Weather Service is forecasing snow for and the surrounding area.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday when significant snow and strong winds are expected for the area.

"The snow will develop by midday Thursday and continue into Friday morning," according to the NWS, which predicts 4 to 8 inches of snow to blanket the village.

Wind chills are expected to approach zero degrees and strong winds will produce blowing and drifting snow, "especially in outlying and open areas."

Because the snow may limit visibility, be cautious when driving and plan your commute accordingly. Keep in mind that Tinley Park Patch's Traffic and Gas Guide provides up-to-the-minute gas and travel information, complete with current construction projects and street closures.
