Original story

The heavy rains Wednesday night and early Thursday has caused minor flooding around Tinley Park, according to a village official.

The Tinely Park Public Works Department, as well as the village's fire and police departments, have been working through throughout the night to take care of reports of some street flooding, said Pat Carr, director of the village's Emergency Management Agency, in an email early Thursday morning.

Along with the street flooding, the village has received some calls about flooded basements, he added. The flooding has not had a major effect on normal village operations, Carr said.

"Right now, we have had a lull in the rainfall, so the water is quickly receding but more is on the way," Carr wrote in an email around 5 a.m. Thursday, April 18.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning through noon Thursday, and a flood watch through the morning of Friday, April 19.

ComEd also is reporting some power outages around Tinley Park. According to the power company's website, outages are in the following areas:

  • Duvan Drive and 175th Street, caused by damaged power lines; 194 customers affected; power should be restored by about 6 a.m.
  • Wyman and Nielsen drives, the cause is under investigation; 113 customers affected; power should be restored by about 8:34 a.m.

Patch will continue to update this story throughout the day.
