Synopsis: 12 ANGRY MENThe defense and prosecution have rested and the jury is filing into the jury room to decide if a young Spanish-American man is guilty or innocent of murdering his own father. What begins as an open and shut case of murder soon becomes a drama surrounding each of the juror’s own prejudices and preconceptions about the trial, the accused and eventually about each other. Winner of both the TONY and Drama Desk Awards for Best Revival of a Play for 2005, 12 Angry Men was described by the New York Times as “an enduring tale of bigotry and justice”. Originally seen in 1954 as a teleplay on the CBS anthology Studio One, many theatre goers will remember it from the 1957 big screen adaptation starring Henry Fonda. As the deliberations unfold and the juror’s make their own arguments for or against conviction, the audience slowly becomes drawn in to the reasoning, personalities and biases of a room full of unique individuals. As the drama draws to a close, the viewer will question whether the verdict arrived at is because of the rational arguments presented, or because they are simply the heated exchanges of twelve angry men.
