Orland Township Immunization Clinic

Vaccines for Children Program

The Orland Township Immunization Clinic is enrolled in the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program. The VFC is a federally funded, state administered program that provides free vaccines to eligible children ages 18 and younger. Vaccines are provided free at no cost to the provider (Orland Township) or the patient.

As of Jan. 1, 2013, the eligibility requirements by the Illinois Department of Public Health have changed.

Who is qualified for free vaccines thru the VFC Program at a Health Center?

Under-insured children are eligible to receive VFC vaccines ONLY at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), Rural Health Center (RHC), or Local Public Health Department (LHD). You may visit one of the clinics listed below for vaccines.

Aunt Martha’s Health Care Network (LHD)-17850 S. Kedzie Avenue, Hazel Crest, IL -(708) 335-5201 Access Family Health Center (FQHC)-13000 Maple Avenue, Blue Island, IL-(708) 385-6100 Cook County Department of Public Health-15900 S. Cicero Ave., Bldg, E-3rd Floor, Oak Forest, IL-(708) 836-8639

Who is NOT qualified for the VFC Program?

Privately insured children (children with vaccine insurance benefits), even those without a medical home, cannot be vaccinated with VFC vaccine at any location – even a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or a Rural Health Clinic (RHC). These children must be vaccinated with privately acquired vaccine.

At this time, Orland Township’s provider qualifications only allow us to administer vaccines to Medicaid, Native American Indian, Alaska Native and UNINSURED children. We are in the application process of becoming a Local Health Department (LHD); until the process is complete, please visit one of the qualified clinics listed.

The Township offers Immunization clinics monthly ranging from infants as young as 1 month of age to our senior population. This service is offered to all residents with no insurance or who are under-insured. The clinic partners with the Illinois Department of Public Health VFC program and the I-Care statewide tracking database. All vaccines for children 18 years of age or younger are supplied by the VFC program and tracked through the I-Care database. This partnership offers all patients the option of going to any clinic or doctor statewide and having their immunizations records and physicals accessible. This program saves the Township and State thousands of dollars in unneeded immunizations and proper tracking of vaccines. Vaccines for residents 19 yrs of age or older are purchased by the Township and offered to residents at the monthly Immunization Clinics for a minimal fee. In addition to the monthly immunization clinics we offer flu shots daily in the month of October and have ongoing Zostavax (Shingles) clinics for our senior population.
