Tollway Chief to Headline Southland Chamber Program

With Open Road Tolling for electronic I-Pass users, the Illinois Tollway System continues to operate interstate highways many view as the most efficient and driver-friendly expressways in Illinois.

In April 2010, Gov. Patrick Quinn’s then-deputy chief of staff of Economic Development and Recovery, Kristi Lafleur, was tapped to run the Illinois Tollway. Lafleur is the first woman to head the 57-year-old agency that serves more than 1.4 million daily users in 12 Illinois counties.

On April 11, Tollway Executive Director Lafleur will headline the program, “Crossroads of Change,” at the Chicago Southland Chamber of Commerce Regional Consensus Luncheon at the Holiday Inn –Tinley Park Convention Center, 18451 S. Harlem Ave.

Lafleur’s talk will target critical tollway issues including accountability and efficiencies, regional coordination issues and economic development. With tollway access and expansion among the Southland’s top concerns, Lafleur’s talk should provide insight into how tollway plans fit into the regional needs.

The chamber event is open to anyone interested.
