Village Water Conservation Begins May 15

These measures will be in effect until Sept. 15 and apply to all Tinley Park residents. Find out when you'll be able to water outside this summer. Plus, take a by-the-numbers look at the village's water use.

With summer just around the corner, baseball and construction season already have begun in Tinley Park. Now, it's time for summer's final season to start: water conservation season.

From May 15 to Sept. 15, residents' outdoor water use is limited from 7 to 11 a.m. and from 7 to 11 p.m. on odd or even dates based on their address numbers, according to a village press release.

These measures help ensure the village's water supply stays at safe levels for health and environmental reasons, the release stated. As a rule, the village tries to keep at least 50 percent of capacity in the water storage system for drinking water and fire protection, the release continued.

The village's water also supplies the Tinley Service Area, which is made up of Tinley Park, New Lenox, Mokena and Orland Hills, the release stated.

This is Tinley Park's first conversation level, color-coded green, and could be followed by other color-coded levels of stricter measures if weather conditions begin to affect water use and supply.
