Hundreds Honor Memory of Beloved Fifth-Grade Teacher at 'Run for Reilly'

Funds raised go to the family of Mark Reilly, who died suddenly in November 2013.

The Memorial School community is still feeling the loss of fifth-grade teacher Mark Reilly, who died suddenly in November 2013.

"Teachers come up to me with tears in their eyes some mornings," said Memorial School Principal Mike Donovan. "They're pulling together."

Families, students and staff rallied at Central School Saturday, May 31 for the inaugural "Run for Reilly" 5k walk/run fundraiser, designed to support Reilly's family.

“Mark is missed daily at Memorial," teacher Sarah Searcy told Patch earlier. "We were all just missing him, tossing around ideas on how we could honor him."

Nearly 800 participants signed up, Donovan said, with an initial total of $12,086 raised, with additional funds expected to continue rolling in.
