Woman Thanks Stranger Who Turned in Money Lost at Jewel

A local woman was pleasantly surprised when someone handed over money she lost at Jewel to the customer service desk.

A local woman is grateful for the honesty of a stranger and a happy ending after she lost money at a local Jewel.

Tinley Park Patch Facebook fan Mary Smuskiewicz lost the money on a Saturday, but didn't notice it missing until she went to purchase gas the following Monday.

"I tore my purse apart, looked everywhere at home, figured it was gone for good," she wrote to Patch.

Smuskiewicz said she made one last attempt to find the money, by stopping at the service counter at Jewel. She handed over her receipt and answered a few questions for the employee.

"I never expected her to come back with the money."

Smuskiewicz was happy to report the news to her friends and family—and to Tinley Park Patch.

"It felt great to be able to tell my family that there are good people out there."
