Orland Grassland Volunteers

April 22, 2014 - Tinley Park, IL – As part of their monthly “Graphicsland Gives Back” program, employees of Graphicsland, Inc. recently spent the day volunteering at Orland Grassland Volunteers to remove invasive species of brush from the Orland Grasslands for Earth Day 2014.

“We usually try to help local charities by donating stickers, signs, and banners from our MakeSigns.com and MakeStickers.com websites - and we also donate a portion of our sales directly to the charities. But this year we wanted to do something a little different for Earth Day. This is the first time we’ve actually rolled up our sleeves and pitched in and it was a lot of fun!” Said Jerry Feil, President of Graphicsland, Inc.

Continued Feil, “Obviously for Earth Day we wanted to focus on the environment and put the spotlight on volunteerism to help make our world a better place, and what better way than to help restore such a beautiful natural resource located right in our own backyard”.

There’s lots of work to be done.  Species of brush and trees that aren’t native to the area need to be removed and native species such as oak, hazelnut, and plum need to be planted around the perimeter to help foster shelter and shading.

Years worth of work remains, and volunteers are always welcome.  Volunteering takes place on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month from 9:00 AM until Noon at the 167th Street entrance just west of LaGrange Road in Orland Park.
