States like Texas and Florida already have over 20 years experience with citizens carrying concealed. In fact, Vermont, Arizona, Wyoming and Alaska have no laws regarding carrying at all. No permit or training is required to carry concealed or openly there.
The Texas state police did an analysis a year or two ago of the people with concealed carry permits and a comparable sample of the general population regarding all criminal activity, from littering and parking tickets to armed robbery.
The general population was a little over 30% MORE likely to commit a crime of any type than the concealed carriers.
Not a surprise, when you go through the trouble of training, an FBI background check and all the other legal hoops, you are a lot more likely to behave yourself in general.
