It’s Gardening & Flower Time!
It’s now time to be thinking about getting those gardens tilled up.  Of course it’s too early to plant many things in your garden, but you need to start planning & getting it ready.  What we are planting now is green tail onions, radishes and lettuces and it's ok to mix the different varieties for flavor and texture.  ***If you've thrown scraps, leaves, etc. all winter into your garden area, great!  We recently cleaned our yard by putting all kinds of twigs, tree limbs and whatever we could find to have a hug burning pile.  When  you burn, you put ash into your soil and that helps with nutrients for a richer garden.  So now we are ready to till it up or turn your soil over very good.  Figure out what you might want to plant.  I have some suggestions with some varieties you might want to try this year that are great producers.  And don’t forget to plant yourself some Herbs while you’re at it.

I used to have a few greenhouses on 2 1/2 acres & a flower shop...so I have some good suggestions you might want to try.

TOMATOES~Better Boy (good all around eating), Supersonic (high yielding), Brandywine (great tasting), Pineapple (sweet & juicy) Jet Star(sweet heavy yields), Sweet Million (cherry)
PEPPERS~Big Bertha (my favorite & hard to find but it’s worth the find...large blocky great tasting peppers), Red Beauty (very sweet),
Gypsy or Sweet Banana (great frying pepper)
CUCUMBER~Sweet Slice (good burpless)
LETTUCE~mixed (you can cut & cut)

TIPS…
Plant 2 peppers together...it helps shade them & makes them sturdier
Metal stakes for tomatoes etc...when it lightening's, it helps them grow.  Lightening is also a natural fertilizer for everything because it puts nitrogen into the ground.  So it’s good to have those spring/summer storms!

HERBS
Basil~Spicy Globe/Bush
Catnip~great for cats
Chives~can’t go wrong with these
Dill~great for many things
Oregano, Parsley (I like curly best), Rosemary, Sage, & Lemon Thyme all all my favorites in my garden every year!

FLOWERS
Purple Wave Petunia, White Nierembergia, Calibrachoa (Million Bells) Sweet Potato Vines, Vinca Vines, Licorice Plants, Dahlias, Geraniums, Spikes, Larkspur...these are some of my favorites that are very easily grown.  Makes great flower pots that are easy to take care of!
