Wednesday, September 4th will mark a milestone in the history of Love INC of Tinley Park. It will mark a year since we opened our phone lines in order to serve our community. In that time, we have provided services to almost 100 families. Whether we met a physical need, prayed with an individual, or referred them to one of our partnering agencies or ministries, we have been able to touch lives, even if only for a moment by having a listening ear.
Last month, 75 volunteers from 8 churches gathered in the parking lot of Faith Church to raise money and awareness for the Love INC cause by hosting “A Taste of Tinley Park Churches”. Seeing faces from many congregations work together for a common cause was powerful. I believe that as our Love INC Churches continue to unite as the Body of Christ, solving problems and filling needs, that we will be fulfilling the Scriptural command to show the world that we are Christians by our love.
Looking over the past year we have done that in some very measurable ways. We have placed a homeless single mom and her children into transitional housing, giving them a fresh start by providing shelter, personal care items and gas cards. In another instance, four churches gathered together to help an elderly disabled man pack and move to a new home. All eight of our churches and Trinity Christian College worked together to provide an apartment full of furniture and household items as another client moved out of the Crisis Center Shelter and into her own apartment. These are only a few of the many testimonies coming from this ministry.

On the first Tuesday of each month, we have a year round personal care pantry hosted by Family Harvest Church in addition to a seasonal adult coat pantry hosted by Faith United Church which will be opening shortly after Labor Day. It is our pleasure to announce a new ministry in the works which will regularly work with clients from the Crisis Center providing household items for those who are moving on to their new apartments.
Your generosity in giving of your time, finances and product has certainly made a difference in this ministry and we are excited about looking to the future and what He has in mind for the people in our community. It is our hope to continue to partner with you in His name for the cause of lives transformed by His love!
