In Memoriam: Christopher "River" Cavelle, 41, Beloved Tinley Park Personality

"River" was one of Tinley Park's most well-known personalities.

Tinley Park residents and area regulars are heartbroken over the loss of one of their favorites. 

Christoher Cavelle (also known as "River"), 41, died suddenly earlier this week, leaving a hole in the Tinley Park social scene. 

"If you hung out in Tinley, worked in Tinley, or visited Tinley ... you would know River," wrote Kerry Schmidt, of her friend. "He always made you feel welcome, whoever you were. He was a close friend to many. He always lived life to the fullest."

River was a socialite, popping up everywhere and anywhere in town. He is remembered as "one of a kind," well-known for his "bar mitzvah" events at Durbin's and Hollstein's. Friends have started a "Remembering River" Facebook page to share memories and reflections of their friend.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 15 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Lawn Funeral Home, 7732 W. 159th St. Funeral service Monday, June 16, at 9:30 a.m. beginning at Lawn and thento St. Julie Billiart Church Mass 10 a.m.
