In Memoriam: Donald Miller, 81, Longtime Resident of Tinley Park

Miller and his wife have lived in Tinley Park for 50 years.

Donald (aka Ronald) Miller, 81 of Tinley Park went home to his Lord on June 3, 2014. Don is survived by his wife Dorothy (nee Wilkerson), daughters Kathy Hughes (John), Meryle Motz (Kevin), Mary Wiencek (the late Tom), Doni Miller (Alex) and son Donald (Lisa).  Don also had 16 grandchildren along with 26 great grandchildren with another on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents Vernon Everett and Ida Grace of Grinnell, Iowa along with his brothers Walter, Harold, Adrian, Harry, Richard, Raymond, Glenn, Gene and Jerald (Jed) and sister Verna “Sis” Taylor.  He is survived by his sister Audrey Tyer.

Don worked in Tinley Park for many years for Standard Oil and as a salesman for Culligan. He retired in 1994 from the FSC Paper Recycling Corp in Alsip. Don, along with his beloved wife of 63 years Dorothy, have resided in Tinley Park for the past 50 years. They were both very active for many years as members of the Tinley Park United Methodist Church. Don was also the bass player in a country band, “Sonny Queen and the Country Gentlemen” and frequently entertained at the old Pinto Lounge that was located on Oak Park Avenue here in Tinley Park.

A memorial service in celebration of Don’s life is being planned. Any donations can be sent in Don’s name to the attention of the family and they will see to it that it is forwarded to research for COPD and Emphysema.
