Retired Chicago Police Deaprtment officer of 41 years Edward J. Carroll died July 10. The Tinley Park resident is also a World War II veteran and Purple Heart recipient.
Carroll spent the past 58 years married to his wife, Vera Jane. The two of them raised thee children—one of which is as a Chicago police officer.
"Uncle Eddie was a great guy, always had a smile and his contagious laugh I can hear it now," reads a comment on his online obituary.
