SOUTH SUBURBAN COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM ADVANCES TO NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL–The South Suburban College (SSC) Men’s Basketball Team (28-5) won the National Junior Conference Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division Region IV Championship last Saturday over Triton College by a score of 93-75.  The Bulldogs will now advance to the NJCAA Division II National Championship in Danville, Illinois, from March 18-22, 2014.

Sophomore guard Antonio Levy led the way with 35 points.  Levy was rewarded by being named MVP of the Regional Tournament.  Sophomore guard Anthony Strickland was also named to the Region IV All-Tournament Team.  Bulldogs Head Coach John Pigatti was named Region IV Coach-of-the-Year for the sixth time in his eight years at SSC, as his teams have advanced to the National Tournament in each of those years. 

The Bulldogs will open the tournament as the #4 seed vs. Ft. Scott (KS) Community College on Wednesday March 19th at 11:00 a.m.  With a win, the Bulldogs would play on Thursday March 20th at 8:30 p.m. vs. the winner of Phoenix College/Lake Michigan College matchup.
