UPDATED: Alsip Teen Dead After Saturday Night Car Crash

Four others were injured in a single-car accident in the 6200 block of West 183rd Street in Tinley, according to police.

An Alsip teenager was killed and four others were injured after a single-car crash late Saturday night in the 6200 block of West 183rd Street in Tinley park, a police release stated.

A 2008 Pontiac G6 was traveling westbound on West 183rd Street at 11:38 p.m. Saturday and left the roadway, rolling several times before coming to rest in Cook County Forest Preserve property on the north side of the road, according to a Tinley Park Police Department release.

Megan Elam, 18, of Alsip, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at 12:28 a.m. Sunday at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner. Elam was a passenger in the the vehicle, the release said.

The other four occupants of the car—including the driver—were taken to various south suburban hospitals for continuing treatment. It is still unknown why the car left the roadway.

The Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team and the Tinley Park Police Crash Investigation Unit are looking into the accident, police said.
