$102,500 in Cables and Gate Posts Stolen from Construction Company

Due to the weight of the cables and lack of drag marks in the mulch, police think thieves drove in.

Police are looking for someone who made off with about $102,500 in cables and gate posts from a hoist-and-crane company on the 8000 block of 185th Street, Tinley Park, police said.

Between 11:59 p.m. May 12 and 4:30 a.m. May 13, the thief or thieves made off with:

  • 34 20-foot cables, each worth $1,000
  • Two 400-foot cables, each worth $3,000
  • 500 galvanized gate posts, each worth $125

As police found the mulch hadn’t been disturbed by someone dragging cables and each of the 400-foot cables weighs more than 300 pounds, police believe the thief or thieves drove into the yard, according to police reports.
