Oak Lawn Man Faces Felony Charge Over 6 Adderall Pills

Eric M. Novak, 22, was allegedly found with the medication and arrested for possession of a controlled substance, Tinley Park police said.

An Oak Lawn man faces a felony drug charge over six Adderall pills police recovered during a traffic stop.

Eric M. Novak, 22, of the 9100 block of South Kedvale Avenue, Oak Lawn, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, according to a Tinley Park police report. Police said he and his girlfriend were hanging out at about 8:08 p.m. on Friday, July 12, at the Speedway, 7201 W. 183rd, when an officer noticed the pair moving around items in the back seat of the Pontiac Grand Am they were in.

The officer watched them drive down Harlem Avenue, and he made a traffic stop when the driver failed to signal for a turn, the report states.

During the stop, Novak allegedly told police he had one Adderall pill in his wallet. He was asked to get out of the car and, during a search, told police he had five more pills in his pocket, according to the report. Adderall is a Schedule II amphetamine salts medication used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

The girlfriend also said she had pills in her backpack, but they weren't a controlled substance, the report states. She was released without charges.

Novak was taken to Will County jail to await a bond hearing. Bail was set at $10,000. He was released Saturday, July 13.
