6-Year-Old Initially Unresponsive After 3-Story Fall

The Illinois Department of Child and Family Services was called in following a 6-year-old's fall from an apartment building in Tinley Park.

Officials are investigating a Labor Day incident in which a 6-year-old fell from a three-story window on 175th Street in .

The child appeared to be unconscious around 5:20 p.m., said a local resident who was walking his dog in the 7400 block of 175th Street around that time. That resident is a minor.

The 6-year-old child fell from the window, which is in an apartment building, at about 5:15 p.m., according to a  news release. Though breathing, the child was not responding initially after the fall, the witness said. Later, the child began responding and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services were carrying out a "routine part of the investigation" Tuesday, police said.
