A Ruckus at the Holiday Inn, Smoke 'N Dash and Vanishing Van

TUESDAY, NOV. 29

Warrant Arrest

Dennis M. Tsantis, 42, of the 100 block of Huntington Road in Matteson, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. at the Oak Brook Police Department on a warrant for driving with a suspended license out of the . His bail was set at $5,000.

Damage to a Home

A resident called police around 10 p.m. when he found damage to his home's front door and its interior trim. said the door was damaged around the exterior door knob but not around the frame from the outside. "There were no footwear impressions on the door or any other signs of damage," the report said. The victim said he believed the culprit could be the former owner of the home. The home was foreclosed upon and the victim bought it from the former owner for $40,000. He still owes $13,000 of that cost and the former owner has been "aggressively asking him for it," police said. Nothing was missing from the home.

SATURDAY, NOV. 26

A Ruckus at the Holiday Inn

Police were looking for a man around 7:30 p.m. who Holiday Inn staff said was acting unruly. Employees knew the man's name and personal information because he worked at the hotel as a pastry chef, according to the report, but police weren't able to find him.

Staff said the man was kicked out of the hotel at 18501 S. Harlem Ave. in after he got angry, tore up a piece of paper and threw it on the ground. He then "kicked two hotel doors very hard, which caused a breach of peace," the report said.

The cops learned that the man was banished from his workplace and the adjacent convention center because he reportedly stole a bottle of wine and cell phone from there. Charges had not yet been filed as of Tuesday. 

FRIDAY, NOV. 25

Smoke 'N Dash

An employee of a smoke shop called police after three customers left without paying for $25 worth of hookah.

The man and his two female friends walked into Sahara's, 7899 W. 159th St., around 9:15 p.m., according to the report. The three ordered hookah and some tobacco and after smoking, got into a dark-colored Lexus.

"The (man) refused to roll his window down for (the employee, who approached the car), placed the car in reverse nearly striking (the employee) and fled the parking lot in an aggressive manner," the report said.

Police have the name of the registered owner of the car, they said, and were working to get a hold of him. No arrests had been made as of Wednesday. 

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 23

Warrant Arrest

Nicholas J. De Michael, 34, of the 16900 block of Crane Avenue in Hazel Crest, was arrested around 3:20 a.m. at a local hotel on a failure-to-appear warrant. His bail was set at $50,000.

Theft at BK

A Burger King cashier called the cops around 7 p.m. to report that someone had snatched her wallet from her purse, which was hanging on a coat rack in the business' office between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The woman canceled all of her credit cards and said there may be surveillance footage in the restaurant, 18301 S. Harlem Ave. in .

Bicycle Found

Around 9:40 a.m., police found a bike in a ditch in the 6300 block of West James Street in Tinley Park. The girls 24-26-inch Raleigh Venure had a serial number of U83K22842, according to the report. It had not been reported lost or stolen at the department, but was inventoried there for safekeeping. 

SUNDAY, NOV. 20

Aggravated Domestic Battery

Kamal A. Salah, 53, of the 8600 block of Scheer Drive in Tinley Park, was arrested around 7 p.m. in the 9600 block of West 171st Street and charged with aggravated domestic battery. Additional information was not immediately available.

Van Stolen at Buffalo Wild Wings

A man called police around 7 p.m., when he left Buffalo Wild Wings and discovered that his van had vanished from its parking spot. 

The man said that he got to the 183rd Street restaurant around 2:30 p.m. to watch the Bears game and parked the 2004 Ford E250 at the south end of the lot. Police found shards of glass scattered throughout that area and said they believed someone broke the passenger side window of the vehicle. 

About $1,000 worth of electrical equipment, $2,000 worth of special electrical tools and $500 worth of electrical wiring were inside the van, according to the report. The vehicle was entered into the stolen vehicle database.
