A Snapshot of the Weekend's Vehicle Break-ins

We've mapped out where cars have recently been targeted around town.

Burglaries can happen everywhere. And they do.

Despite where you live or choose to park your car, you should take steps to safeguard your GPS, purse, wallet and other personal items, Cmdr. Steve Vaccaro said.

"You have to hide your belongings," he said. "Don't leave things out where people can see them and even if your car is in your driveway, lock your doors."

Lately, burglars are targeting unlocked cars or those in parking lots at local fitness centers, Vaccaro said.

"When you go to the gym, you leave all of your belongings in the car," he said. "People are taking car keys from the locker rooms and going out to cars to steal."
