Alcohol Thieves Flee CVS Pharmacy on Harlem

said two men bagged more than $550 worth of liquor Sunday morning before hightailing it out of a convenient store on 167th Street without paying.

Police responded to CVS Pharmacy, 16701 S. Harlem Ave., around 11:30 a.m. Sunday after getting a call about a retail theft that had occurred just minutes before.

The store manager said he confronted two black men in their 20s who had entered the store, one at a time, on their cell phones, before stealing merchandise, according to the police report.

After walking in the store, the two made their way to the booze aisle. The first man, described as having a shaved head and being about 6 feet tall and 240 pounds, reached under his coat and grabbed a light-colored plastic bag, the report said.

"(He) began selecting various bottles of alcohol from the shelf and placing them in the bag,” the report said. “When that bag appeared full, the (other) subject produced a second … bag and began filling it."

The report described the second man as being 6-foot-2 and about 220 pounds.

The duo tried to leave the store with the booty tucked under their coats when they were confronted by the manager, police said. The manager asked that they return the alcohol, but the men insisted there wasn't a problem.

They then fled the store heading eastbound on 167th Street in a white Pontiac Grand Prix. Video surveillance backed up the manager's story, police said.

The following items were reported stolen:

• 10 bottles of Grey Goose vodka, valued at $36.49 each
• 5 bottles of Skyy vodka, valued at $17.99 each
• 2 bottles of Absolut Citron vodka, valued at $22.99 each
• 4 bottles of Absolut Mandarin vodka, valued at $22.99 each
• 1 bottle of Absolut Peach vodka, valued at $22.99 each
• 1  bottle of Yellow Tail moscato wine, valued at $9.99
