Allan Kustok's Long-Time Mistress Tells of 5-Year Affair With Alleged Wife-Killer

While alleged wife-killer Allan Kustok was trolling for girlfriends on the adultery website Ashley Madison, he was in the middle of a five-year affair with a committed mistress.

"I had no knowledge" that Kustok was having affairs with anyone other than her, former girlfriend Michelle Ventress testified at his murder trial Friday.

Kustok and Ventress, a Chicago attorney, started their romance in the fall of 2005 and kept at it right up until his wife, Anita "Jeanie" Kustok, was killed by a bullet shot through her face in September 2010.

Kustok, 63, claimed he was actually asleep at the time his wife was killed, according to earlier trial testimony. He explained that a gunshot woke him up and he discovered his wife was dead next to him in bed, according to an Orland Park detective.

Ventress testified she met Allan and Jeanie Kustok at church in 2004 and reconnected with Allan in 2005 when he pulled up in front of her Orland Park home while she was standing outside. The Kustoks lived about a mile and a half away.

Ventress, who divorced shortly before taking up with Allan Kustok, said he never led her on and that "any future that was spoken of was spoken of more as if it was a wish than it was a plan."

Defense attorney Rick Beuke and prosecutor Jennifer Gonzalez both asked Ventress if the outcome of a 2004 lawsuit Allan Kustok filed against a former employer might enable him to get free of his wife.

"He indicated interest in being able to pay off his debts and be in a position where he could make choices on his own future," Ventress said.

The lawsuit was settled and dismissed in 2006.

Beuke also reminded Ventress she told detectives, "There's no way Mr. Kustol could do any harm to his wife," but Gonzalez pointed out, "When you said those things you didn't know the defendant was in a string of other relationships besides yourself."

Ventress left the courtroom without looking at Kustok.

Before Ventress took stand, the jury was shown video testimony from a Michigan standup comedian who met Kustok through Ashley Madison and eventually had a one-night stand with him.

Toni Kregelka, who said she also works as a private investigator, was allowed to testify on video because she planned to leave the country around the start of the trial.

During the video, several jurors laughed when Kregelka dramatically read from her Ashley Madison profile, which told of her desire for "burning hot chemistry and somebody to ignite it."

"If you have a voice like Mike Tyson or a body like Barney Fife, don't. It hurts me," Kregelka said.

Also Friday, the manager of a gun shop, who happened to know Allan Kustok from his days at Mendel Catholic High School of Chicago, told of selling him the .357 revolver that would kill his wife.

John Riggio said he sold Allan Kustok the gun in June 2009. Allan Kustok supposedly bought the gun for his wife as an anniversary present because she was afraid for her safety when she was alone in the house. A series of Jeanie Kustok's relatives and friends have taken the witness stand to say they had no idea she either owned a gun or that she harbored concerns for her safety.

The form Allan Kustok filled out to buy the revolver included a checklist of reasons for the purchase. He did not select home defense or security and instead chose "target shooting" as his basis for getting a gun.
