Attempted Kidnapping in Unincorporated Tinley Park

A man tried to grab a woman walking down Oak Forest Avenue from 167th Street and drag her into his car, the sheriff's office said.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who attempted to drag a woman into his car at about 3:15 p.m. April 27, according to a sheriff's alert.

The man, described as possibly Indian, 30 to 35 years old, balding, about 5-foot-10 to 6 feet tall, grabbed a woman who had been walking on Oak Forest Avenue south of 167th Street by the collar and tried to pull her into what may have been a late model silver Dodge Caliber. He was wearing a brown T-shirt and tan cargo pants.

The woman was able to fight the man off and escape, the sheriff's office said. The man did not speak during the attack.

Anyone with information or who knows of similar incidents is urged to call detective Johnny Thorns, detective Karen Amegatcher or the Cook County Sheriff's Police Investigations Division at 708-865-4896 or Cook County Communications at 847-635-1188.

The description says the offender might have been driving a dodge caliber, but on the poster the offender's vehicle is pictured as a ford edge.

That's really odd...just last night (May 3rd) I was walking in my neighborhood (167th and Cicero) and saw a guy in some sort of van circle the block a few times I was walking down. He stopped at a stop sign ahead of me. I waited five minutes, grabbed my cell phone and pretended to talk to someone...and he eventually took off. I have no idea if it's connected, but that's really strange.

Might be worth letting the police know. Even if it's not connected, that's sort of weird.

I did! I hope they get this guy.
