Blood Trails Through Home; Fake Wristbands at Amphitheatre, and More

Also in today's police reports, dated July 6, 7 and 9, a man reportedly fails to appear and a resident finds fireworks in a mailbox.

MONDAY, JULY 9

Blood Trails Through Home

A 52-year-old man called around 7 p.m. to report that someone broke into a home that belonged to his mother, who recently passed away. The man watches over the Oak Park Avenue residence in and stopped by Monday to find the sliding patio door slightly ajar and a trail of dried blood leading throughout the home, according to the police report. Nothing from the home was missing, according to the report.

"The complainant advised that he did not want anyone prosecuted for burglary," the report said. "When asked, he stated that his mother did a lot of work with homeless persons and he believed that the offender was possibly a homeless person looking to escape the heat last week."

Failure to Appear

Stephen M. Sanchez, 19, of the 16300 block of Parliament Avenue in , was arrested around 8 p.m. at the on a failure-to-appear warrant.

SATURDAY, JULY 7

Fake Wristbands at Amphitheatre

Police say they arrested three California residents who were peddling counterfeit wristbands outside the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre, 19100 Ridgeland Ave., , over the weekend.

Kevin E. Carpenter, 27; Angel J. Salazar, 31; and Jennifer L. Martinez, 21; all of California, reportedly had more than 500 wristbands for the Warped tour in their vehicle. Police were contacted by theater security Saturday afternoon regarding the sale of the bands, which allowed people entrance to the show as well as backstage areas. The trio was selling each band for $30, according to the police report, and officers found stacks of money in their SUV. The group cooperated fully with the investigation and each was charged with one count of soliciting without a license.

FRIDAY, JULY 6

Fireworks in a Mailbox

Police said someone blew off a pack of 100 fireworks inside a mailbox on Wyman Drive. The culprits may have lit them around 10:30 p.m., which is about the time a neighbor told police she heard fireworks going off in the area, according to the report. The outside of the box was undamaged, but the inside was blackened.
