Driver Tries Coaxing Teen Into Car Near Bus Stop; Parking Lot Scuffle at Rubino's

Criminal Damage

A local man said that around 2 a.m., he heard loud voices and commotion outside his apartment in the 18200 block of 66th Avenue in . It's at that time that he believes someone loosened one or both of the axle nuts on his 1997 Pontiac. Asked why he didn't call the cops at the time, he said, "I didn't feel like it. I was tired," according to the report. He said he believed the culprit may be his landlord who's "seeking retaliation for unpaid rent," according to the report. 

Fraud

A 30-year-old woman called the cops around 2:30 p.m., which is when she realized that on Dec. 10, someone used one of her credit cards for a $318.43 purchase at Super Target. The card remains in her possession and she doesn't know how someone bought anything with it, the report said.

Parking Lot Scuffle at Rubino's

Police arrested a man Monday and accused him of battery after an alleged argument over a parking spot.

Louis Pazdan, 59, of the 18000 block of South Semmler Street in Tinley Park faces one count of battery. He was arrested around 1:45 p.m. at Rubino's Italian Imports, 16636 S. Oak Park Ave. in , where he reportedly approached a 60-year-old man who pulled around his vehicle and parked in a spot he was waiting for.

As the two were yelling, Pazdan punched the victim under his right eye, the report said. Police said they didn't see any bruising or "signs of trauma" on the victim's face. 

Pazdan said he punched the victim in the face when the victim told him to "f--- off" during their dispute. 

Air Conditioners Stolen

  • Sometime between 11 p.m. Dec. 18 and 4:30 a.m. Dec. 19, someone stole five air conditioning units from the 17900 block of Royal Oak Court in Tinley Park. Copper tubing from below them was also missing. The units were valued at a combined $5,000, according to the report. 
  • An employee of a real estate company that attained rights for a 179th Street property that was in foreclosure told police that someone stole about $9,000 worth of air conditioners and heating units from the building. The man said that four 3 to 5 ton air conditioniners were missing from the outside of the building, along with two HVAC units, which were on the roof. Footprints were found around the scene, including on the rooftop and nearby weeds appeared matted down. Officers collected evidence like footwear impressions, according to the report. Employees from the real estate company said the believed the theft occurred between Dec. 12 and Dec. 19.

Driver Tries Coaxing Teen Into her car Near Bus Stop

An 18-year-old Andrew High School student said that around 8 a.m., a strange driver asked her if she needed a ride to school.

The student was waiting for the bus near the intersection of 167th Street and 84th Avenue when a woman —who was white, had short brown hair and was about 35 years old—approached driving a silver Honda Odyssey, the report said.

She drove past once and made a U-Turn. "The vehicle then stopped next to (the student) and the driver asked her if she needed a ride," according to the report. "(The student) then advised, 'no.' The driver of the vehicle then advised, 'I'll give you a ride to anywhere you want to go.'" The woman drove away after the victim insisted she didn't need a ride, police said.
