Couple's Brawl Leads to Battery and Assault

Police charged a 33-year-old local woman with aggravated assault after a domestic argument that occurred around 2:30 a.m. in a parking lot in the 7500 block of West 175th Street in . It was about that time that the woman drove her 2001 Chrysler Town and Country toward her 30-year-old husband, according to the police report. She was also holding down the vehicle's horn while he was trying to talk to her, police said.

When she went to drive toward the man, he moved out of the way and she struck a 2006 Chevrolet Pacifica that was in the parking lot. Police said alcohol was a factor in the dispute. The man was charged with domestic battery after the woman told police that he headbutted her when she entered their apartment. Police saw a red mark on the bridge of her nose, the report said.

SATURDAY, JAN. 28

Fight Over Restaurant Tab Ends in Trespassing Charges

A local woman was charged with criminal trespassing to a vehicle after reportedly getting into a food fight at a Tinley Park restaurant over a dinner guest not wanting to pay her bill.

Leah M. Smith, 22, of the first block of Olympus Drive in Tinley Park, was arrested around 7:10 p.m. at T.G.I. Fridays, 7200 W. 191st Street in Tinley Park. Police said Smith became angry that someone she was eating with refused to pay for her meal so she, without permission, entered the woman's car and began throwing her belongings on the ground.

When the cops got to the scene, they said a child's car seat and several magazines were scattered around the Red Dodge Neon. Prior to their arrival, Smith threw a plate of food at one of her fellow diners who said she wasn't going to fork over money for her food, according to the report. A manager at the restaurant was not interested in pressing charges as long as the meals ended up being paid for. Smith's bail was set at $1,500.

THURSDAY, JAN. 26 

Identify Theft

A local woman said that between Sept. 1 and Oct. 31, someone stole her identity to open a U.S. Cellular account. She learned of the theft late because on Jan. 26, she got a call from a representative at the phone company telling her that her unpaid balance was $1,682.07, according to the report. The victim told police that she's never had an account with U.S. Cellular. 

Fugitive From Justice

William A. Rivera, 39, of the 17300 block of 70th Avenue in Tinley Park, was arrested around 11:25 p.m. at his home on a warrant for being a fugitive from justice out of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He was fingerprinted through the FBI and Illinois State Police and was positively identified. The report indicates that he will be extradited. 

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 25

Hand Tool and Gloves Stolen

Mark Rideaux, 50, of the 400 block of East 61st Street in Chicago, was arrested around 12:20 p.m. at Menards, 6851 W. 159th St. in Tinley Park, and charged with retail theft. Officers said he stole one pair of gloves and a tool set valued at a total of $20.55. 

TUESDAY, JAN. 24

Four-Car Pile-up Leads to DUI Arrest 

Police arrested Richard J. Stoklosa, 59, of the 7300 block of Blackhawk Drive in Tinley Park, around 8:45 p.m., when they said he rear-ended a car in front of him, resulting in a four-vehicle crash.

The pile-up was in the 17800 block of South Route 45 in Tinley Park and Orland officers assisted at the scene, police said. One of the drivers—she first gave police a statement—was taken to Silver Cross Hospital for treatment. Police said that while they were interviewing Stoklosa at the scene, he was slurring his words and smelled like alcohol.

They said he admitted to drinking four beers in the "last several hours." He reportedly failed field sobriety tests and blew a .126 on the Breathalyzer test.

He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08.
