Blotter: Driver Has Weed, Kid, in Car; and More

Also in today's police blotter, dated July 12-13, a man is arrested on a warrant after illegally parking his car and a woman receives a mysterious, unwanted shipment.

FRIDAY, JULY 13

Warrant Arrest

Jeremy A. Hamilton, 21, of the 400 block of Clay Street in Joliet, was arrested around 3:35 p.m. outside Best Buy, 7330 W. 191st St., , on a warrant out of the Will County Sheriff's Office for larceny. He was also charged with driving with a suspended license. Police said they found Hamilton's vehicle parked in the fire lane in front of the store with no one inside. 

Driver Has Weed, Kid in Car

Police arrested Dustin R. Mathews, 28, and William M. Mitchell, 37, both of Midlothian, around 8:20 p.m. in the South Street Metra lot near downtown .

They stopped Mitchell, who was driving, after realizing he had a suspended registration, according to the report. After noticing his eyes were "red and watery," police asked him if he had anything illegal in the car, they said. 

"William came to the rear of his vehicle and stated that he had a quarter of weed next to his driver's seat but didn't want to be arrested in front of the juvenile," an officer wrote, in the report, noting that a juvenile was in the front seat.

Mathews reportedly handed over two bags of weed—one weighing 5.9 grams, and the other, 8.6 grams—and a bowl, police said. Mitchell's marijuana weighed out to 7.6 grams, according to the report.

Mitchell was charged with driving with a suspended registration and possession of marijuana. Mathews was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Their bail was set at $4,500 and $1,500, respectively.

Unwanted iPads

A woman called the cops after receiving two iPads at her home that she didn't order. She said she believed someone has been opening accounts in her name, according to the police report. 

THURSDAY, JULY 12

Warrant Arrest

Antwain D. Ticer, 37, of the 15200 block of South Winchester Avenue in Harvey, was arrested around 9:50 a.m. in the 9500 block of West 179th Street on a failure-to-appear warrant out of Will County. Police said they found Ticer sleeping in his Lincoln Towncar in the Arby's parking lot. His vehicle had a flat tire and its door was open, according to the report.
