Vandal Empties Garbage Can on Car

Sometime between 10 p.m. March 27 and 8:30 a.m. March 28, someone emptied a garbage can on a car parked in the 17300 block of Queen Ann Lane in . The offender also broke the passenger-side rear tail light, police said.

Fleeing Police After Stealing Sandals and a Nightlight

Diane M. Duda, 24, of the 8100 block of 160th Street in , was arrested around 8 p.m. and charged with retail theft, fleeing police and reckless driving.

Police said Duda stole a $3.29 night light, $22.69 Prevacid 28 and a $12.99 pair of White Sox sandals from Kmart, 16300 Harlem Ave. She then reportedly ran from the store and into her car, which she drove at a "high rate of speed" to avoid police.

Officers were able to track Duda down by reviewing license plate information and watching the store's surveillance footage. She admitted to stealing the items and evading police, the report said. 

MONDAY, MARCH 26

Couple Shoplifts High-End Lego Sets

A man and a woman collaborated this past week to steal about $270 worth of legos from a local store, according to surveillance footage. said the man entered Target, 7300 W. 191st St., , around 2:45 p.m. and bought in cash a $129 Harry Potter Lego set and a $139 Star Wars Lego set.

Minutes later, a woman enters the store and goes to the same aisle, placing identical Lego sets in her cart. She then places several other items in her cart and goes through the checkout line. Asked about the Lego sets, the displays a receipt and said she already purchased them. She is shown leaving the store after her purchase. The theft remained under investigation on Wednesday.

Criminal Trespassing Warrant

Michael J. Marsden, 22, of the 17600 block of Highland Avenue in , was arrested around 4 p.m. near the intersection of 173rd Place and 66th Court on two —one for theft and the other, criminal trespassing to a vehicle. 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 21

Items Missing From Gym Locker

Sometime between 12:45 p.m. and 1:10 p.m., someone stole a wallet containing $70 and several credit cards from a locker at LA Fitness, 18400 Convention Center Drive in . A cell phone was also missing. The victim said he'd secured the items in a locked locker. When he returned to it, the locker was not secured, the report said.

TUESDAY, MARCH 20

Rooftop Graffiti

Police said that sometime over the last week, someone spray painted graffiti on the roof of Sandidge Elementary School. The school, located in the 1600 block of South 66th Street in , was defaced between March 20 and 21, school officials told the cops. Spray paint was in white and black colors on the west side of the roof area and isn't visible from the ground. It included the letters "GK," "SFC," "K," "IRKK," "FOSV," SFCI" and "BIL," police said.
