Blotter: Mailbox Mayhem; Kids Dismember Stop Sign
Also in the latest blotter reports, dated Aug. 19 and Sept. 2-3, a woman is reportedly caught stashing triple A batteries in her bra and a man finds a playhouse staked upside-down on the ground.
MONDAY, SEPT. 3
Missing Mailbox
A resident in the 8300 block of Lilac Lane in Tinley Park told police that sometime overnight, someone stole her mailbox. Police found the box in tact about 1 block from the home. The two-column support pole was broken, however.
Warrant Arrest
Roberta H. Gibson, 52, of the 600 block of East Cass Road in Joliet, was arrested around 2:25 p.m. in the 17300 block of 92nd Street in Tinley, on a failure-to-appear warrant out of Will County.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 2
Mailbox Destruction
A man living in the 17700 block of Cloverview Drive in Tinley Park told police he arrived home around 10:10 p.m. to find his mailbox destroyed and two others lying in his yard. One of the mailboxes belonged to his neighbor but the third owner was unknown as of Sept. 4.

Playhouse Upside Down
A resident of the 9100 block of West Kinsale Drive in Tinley Park said that sometime between midnight and 7 a.m., someone removed fence pole caps from the fence that borders his yard, stole a solar light, tossed landscaping bricks over the fence and turned a children's playhouse upside down and staked it to the ground. The man said he wasn't sure who would have caused the damage.
Books, Batteries and Shorts Taken
A 42-year-old woman told police she "didn't understand what the big deal was" about her stealing "only $50 worth of items" from a local store, where she was shopping with her 11-year-old daughter and her daughter's friend, according to the police report.
Police arrested Petrina L. Mindock, of the 6200 block of South McVicker in Chicago, around 6:50 p.m. Sunday at Super Kmart, 16300 South Harlem Ave., Tinley Park. The woman was stashing items in her purse including three pairs of athletic shorts and three paperback books, police said. Officers reportedly found two packs of AAA batteries tucked inside her bra.
The total value of the stolen merchandise was $63.92, police said. She was charged with retail theft.
SUNDAY, AUG. 19
Kids Try Taking Stop Sign
A man living near the intersection of Willow Lane and Ridgeland Avenue in Tinley Park said he awoke around 3:15 a.m. to the sound of laughter near his home. He said he then saw teenagers near the south side of his property trying to remove a stop sign from the ground. The resident called the police, who found the sign lying on the ground. "It appeared as if the pole had been moved back and forth until it snapped," the report said. The sign was taken to the police department and was replaced by public works, police said.
DUI Warrant
Diane M. Miller, 48, of the 14100 block of Lamon in Crestwood, was arrested in the 20600 block of Lincolnway Lane in Frankfort was arrested on two warrants, one out of Tinley Park and one out of Richton Park. One of the warrants was for driving under the influence. Her bail was set at $10,000.
