Blotter: Men Rumble at Hollstein's; Teens Booze and Smoke Pot at Elementary School

Tinley Park police reports, May 9 and May 22-25.

FRIDAY, MAY 25

Men Rumble at Hollstein's

Andrew W. Durham, 22, of the 3600 block of Arthur Terrace in Markham, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. in the 6700 block of North Street in and charged with battery. Police said Durham punched someone at J.W. Hollstein's, 17358 Oak Park Ave., during an argument in which he was yelling profanities and racial slurs. His bail was set at $1,500.

Teens Drink and Smoke Pot at Sandidge Elementary

Police found four juveniles congregating around 10:50 p.m. outside Sandidge Elementary School, 16600 S. 66th Avenue in Tinley Park. Two in the group ran eastbound from the area and two, westbound, police said. They left a 12-pack of Corona, a 12-pack of Bud Light and marijuana in their wake, according to the report. An iPhone was also there but officers could not identify its owner due to it being password protected. The phone remained at the police department May 25.

Warrant Arrest

Louis E. McGhee, 26, of the 13600 block of South Turner Avenue in Robbins, was arrested around 11:35 p.m. at his home on a warrant out of Tinley Park. His bail was set at $7,500.

TUESDAY, MAY 22

Soliciting Without a License

Preston L. Craig, 29, was arrested around 7:35 p.m. in the first block of Odyssey Drive in Tinley Park, where police said he was soliciting without a license.

Craig was reportedly asking people for money so he could go to college. He was selling magazine subscriptions, cops said. He did not have a permit to solicit, according to the police report. He was arrested on a failure-to-appear warrant out of DuPage County for soliciting without a license and was additionally charged with one count of soliciting without a license.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 9

Wallet Stolen, Cards Used

A woman said she believed that around 6:30 p.m., she may have dropped her wallet inside Super Target, 7300 W. 191st St., Tinley Park. Her debit card and several credit cards were inside the wallet and she didn't realize it was missing until later because she left Target without buying anything, police said.

On May 10, $598.19 in purchases had already been made using her debit card. A separate $725 transaction was still pending. Purchases were made in Mokena, Joliet and Gary, IN. 

Bicycle Found

Police said a boys BMX bicycle was found around 2 p.m. near the pond in front of Andrew High School, 9001 W. 171st St., Tinley Park.
