Blotter: Purse Stolen From Parked Car Leads to ID Theft

Tinley Park Police reports, Nov. 6-13 • GPS and I-PASS lifted from vehicle • iPod stolen from parked SUV • Tool bag and purse taken; combined contents worth almost $500 • Copper wire stolen from construction site.

TUESDAY, NOV. 6

GPS, I-PASS Stolen From Vehicle

A Garmin GPS, an I-PASS tollway transponder, cell phone charger and a digital camera were taken from an 2007 Ford Explorer parked in a residential driveway in the 17900 block of 66th Avenue, according to a police report. The SUV was parked in the driveway from the evening of Nov. 4 to the morning of Nov. 5, and the passenger door lock was damaged, the report stated.

IPod Taken From Parked SUV

An 8-gigabyte iPod and its charger was taken from a Chevrolet Traverse parked in a residential driveway in the 7900 block of West 163rd Court, according to a police report. The SUV owner told police she also noticed several items in the center console had been rifled through, the report stated, adding the vehicle's doors were unlocked.

Tool Bag, Purse Stolen; Combined Contents Worth Almost $500 

A black, canvas tool bag with a rechargeable drill and a black, cloth purse were taken from a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier parked in a residential driveway in the 7900 block of West 164th Court, according to a police report. The tool bag contained more than $300 worth of tools, and the purse had more than $150 worth of items, as well as work and school IDs, the report stated.

MONDAY, NOV. 12

Copper Wire Stolen From Construction Site

A small amount of copper pipe was taken between 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, and 6:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, from the construction site for a new Chase Bank, 17157 Harlem Ave., according to a police report. An employee with the construction company told police the gates around site are not locked and can be easily moved by hand. Electrical lines to a fuse panel also were removed, the report stated.

TUESDAY, NOV. 13

Purse Stolen From SUV Parked at Health Club

A purse with $45 in cash, a check book and various credit cards was taken from a 2004 Dodge Caravan parked in the parking lot of Woman's Workout World, 16015 Harlem Ave., according to a police report.

When the owner called the bank to cancel her debit card, she was told $640.93 had been taken from her account and used at the Home Depot in Frankfort, the report stated.
