Blotter: Woman Pockets Pregnancy Tests, Pontiac Stolen from Downtown Lot

Also in today's police reports, dated July 26, July 30, Aug. 16 and Aug. 20, someone steals pricey brake beams from a business on 185th Street and booze thieves hit Jewel-Osco.

MONDAY, AUG. 20

Warrant Arrest

Lee E. Bacot, 52, of the 14200 block of Circle in Dixmore, was arrested around 1:25 a.m. in the 100 block of Oak Park Avenue in on a warrant out of Harvey. His bail was set at $25,000.

Pontiac Stolen From Downtown Lot

The owner of a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am reported her vehicle stolen around 4:45 p.m. The woman said she had been downtown for the weekend and her mother was stopping in the lot, where her car was parked, in order to make parking payments for her. She returned to find her vehicle missing.

THURSDAY, AUG. 16

Woman Pockets Pregnancy Tests

warned an 18-year-old woman to not return to Walt's Food Center, 16039 Harlem Ave., Tinley Park, because they said they believed she had stolen three pregnancy tests off the shelf there. They watched surveillance footage of the incident, which occurred between 12:35 p.m. and 1:21 p.m., according to the report.

The video shows the woman removing the tests from the boxes, placing the boxes back on the shelves, and leaving the store with the tests inside her purse. Police caught up with her at a local beauty school, which they identified based on the apron she was wearing in the footage. She denied taking the tests and police said that because of a choppy video, there was insufficient evidence to charge her with retail theft. 

MONDAY, JULY 30

Leaving the Scene

Efrain E. Cruz, 29, of the 7000 block of West 170th Street in Tinley Park, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. in the 7800 block of West 183rd Street and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a valid driver's license. 

Brake Beams Stolen

About 20 train brake beams valued at $77.22 each were reported stolen from Harbor Tool, 8300 W. 185th Street in Tinley Park. Police said they believe the theft took place July 29. The brake beams were kept outside the warehouse in the back of the parking lot, according to the report. 

THURSDAY, JULY 26

Booze Thieves

Employees at Jewel-Osco, 17117 S. Harlem Ave., Tinley Park, said that around 5:25 p.m., two women stole three bottles of Sky Vodka and two bottles of Grey Goose from the shelves at the store. The two placed the bottles in bags and left the store, the report said. The booze was priced at $133.35.
