Accused Shoplifter Says "Stupid Thoughts Took Over" 

A Midlothian woman was arrested around 5:25 p.m., when store security said she tried stealing more than $300 with of clothing from a local store.

Debra A. Rea, 55, of the 14500 block of South Spaulding Ave. in Midlothian, was arrested at Super Target, 7300 W. 191st St., Tinley Park. Store security said Rea hid clothing in a plastic bag after removing them from their hangars, the report said. She also concealed "personal care items," they said.

"Debra stated she, 'came in and tried on clothes and put them in a basket,'" police said. "Debra stated after trying on the clothes, 'stupid thoughts took over, and I just put them in the bag.'"

The total value of the stolen merchandise was $318.58, according to the police report. The Will County State's Attorney's office denied felony charges. Rea's bail was set at $1,500.

Burglars Caught on Camera

A resident brought  surveillance footage of four burglars working together to steal a guitar and construction level from his car.

The man's GMC Sierra was unlocked and parked in the 16100 block of Eagle Ridge Drive in  at the time of the theft, which was Saturday around 7:15 a.m. Surveillance cameras around his home captured footage of four men approaching the car — two walking to the edge of the driveway to stand watch, according to the police report.  

They removed the $300 acoustic guitar and the $200 Stanley smart level before leaving the area. The man's sister said she recognized one of the suspects from the neighborhood, though no charges had been filed against him as of Friday.
