Busted! Urinary Track Detection Catches 2 Men Soiling Metra Stations on Same Night

Patch uncovers some of the stranger Tinley Park Police reports. In this edition, two Southland residents prove you should always go before you leave home.

Busted! takes a look at the more unusual reports that the men and women of the Tinley Park Police Department respond to. Names have been withheld to protect the innocent, the guilty and the embarrassed.

The old saying goes that great minds think alike. That sentiment also could apply to full bladders.

In the wee hours of Feb. 17, two south suburban men separated by about a few miles and 40 minutes could no longer contain their bodily fluids and decided to relieve themselves at Metra station. And they would have gotten away with it, too, if not for security cameras and a village employee monitoring those aforementioned cameras.

When officers arrived, the man was leaning against the wall, drinking a Bud Light, the report stated. Initially, he denied relieving himself in the tunnel but confessed when police told him he was on camera going No. 1, the report continued.

The man was cited for public urination.

SECOND INCIDENT

Less than an hour later, at around 1:15 a.m., the same village employee who witnessed the 80th Avenue incident caught a repeat performance at the Oak Park Metra station, the police report stated. This time, though, it was with a different offender, a 26-year-old New Lenox man, who was seen urinating near a large trash bin on the east side of the station, according to the report.

To the man's credit, he admitted to the dirty deed when police questioned him as he sat on a bench at the station, the report stated. He was then cited for public urination.

Police report information is provided by the Tinley Park Police Department and other law enforcement agencies. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. If you or a family member are charged or cited and the case is subsequently adjudicated, we encourage you to notify the editor. We will verify and report the outcome.
