Carjackers Toss Elderly Woman From Oldsmobile on Harlem Avenue

Two men threatened an old lady's life while stealing her car and purse, police said.

Two carjackers threw an elderly woman from her car Wednesday afternoon outside a Harlem Avenue shopping center, where they threatened to shoot her but didn't show a gun.

The woman was getting into her car in a parking lot near the Dollar Tree around 3:20 p.m. when two men approached her and asked her for directions, according to a story by Triblocal.  

"One of the men then told the woman to get out of her car and turn over her purse and her 1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass," the story said. "The man threatened to shoot the woman, but she never saw a weapon, police said. The woman was forced out of her car by one of the men and struggled for her purse before the men made off with both of them in an unknown direction …"

The woman, who was in her 90s, was mostly unscathed. She did have minor cuts on her hands, Cmndr. Steve Vaccaro told Triblocal.

The victim told police the two carjackers were white men in their 20s. They had medium builds and dark complexions, according to police.
