Caught on Security Camera Stealing a Security Camera ... For Mother's Day

A Robbins man was accused of trying to shoplift from Menards and having a crack pipe, police said.

A security camera caught a man trying to steal a security camera as a Mother's Day present, Tinley Park police said.

Ronald Turner, 51, of the 13400 block of Springfield Avenue, Robbins, was charged with felony retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after a security camera at Menards, 6851 159th Street, Tinley Park, recorded him trying to steal a $299 First Alert Wireless security camera at about 3:20 p.m. May 2, police said.

While patting him down, officers found a thin metal tube Turner later told them he used to smoke crack, police said.

Turner also had an active warrant out of Bridgeview for shoplifting. He told police he was going to give the security camera to his mother for Mother’s Day.

The two men he was with were released without charges.
