Tinley Park resident Dr. Rakesh Anand and his wife will be serving time in the slammer after the two were convicted for operating a weight-loss clinic scheme, reports the Sun-Times Media.

The 58-year-old doctor and his wife, Meena Anand, 53, were convicted of selling illegal drugs to patients through their Doctors Weight Loss Clinics, located in Merrillville, Orland Park, Tinley Park and Lansing. From 2002 to 2010, they bought and sold more than 4 million amphetamine-based pills, according to the report. All the while, they neglected to pay millions in taxes.

Meena Anand received one month in prison for her part in the scheme. Rakesh was sentenced to two years—which he says is unbearable.

“I think I’m in the last couple years of my life,” Rakesh Anand told the Sun-Times Media. “I don’t think I’ll survive a day in prison. If I have to go to prison, I might end my life.”

2 years? Seriously? For dealing drugs? And tax evasion. This judicial system of ours is totally screwed.

They did the crime, got caught, got convicted and sentenced and now he wants some sympathy? Or is he trying to sway for some leniency? Suck it up buddy, you knew there would be consequences if you ever got caught and guess what, you did.
