Cook County Sheriff Sending Extra Patrols over Memorial Day Weekend

Police will be searching for seat belt and DUI violators, said Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart.

Extra police patrols will be on Cook County streets over the Memorial Day weekend, Sheriff Tom Dart said Friday.

Cops will search for seat belt and DUI violators during patrols starting Friday night through Saturday morning and, again, Saturday night through Sunday morning, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office. Extra officers will be looking for all types of violations Saturday night through Sunday morning.

The effort is part of the Illinois Department of Transportation's "Click It or Ticket" campaign, according to the Sheriff's office. The enforcements are paid for through grants from the IDOT.
