Cook, Will Under Tornado Watch

Storms are expected to bring strong winds and a chance for tornadoes Sunday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Cook and Will counties until 4 p.m.

Thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts of up to 75 mph are expected to roll through the area Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The tornado watch extends to much of northern Illinois.

The storms carry the potential to produce strong tornadoes, the weather service reports. High winds are expected to persist all day long.
