Diamond Ring Disappears, $12,000 Sign Banged Up: Blotter

Mysterious Sign Damage

A sign outside Brigid Capital, 16335 Harlem Ave., was bashed up earlier this month, causing $12,000 worth of damage.

The victim told police it happened sometime between 6 p.m. on Oct. 11 and 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 15, according to a Tinley Park police report.

Police believe the damage to the sign was not consistent with a car or truck, the report states. The man who spoke with police about the business sign surmised that a landscaping company was the cause.

An officer who investigated was unable to determined with the damage was intentional or accidental, the report states. The cost to replace the sign is estimated to be $12,000.

Rings Disappear

A 66-year-old Tinley Park woman dressing up to attend a wedding discovered her $4,500 diamond ring had gone missing, according to a Tinley Park police report.

Police were called after the woman reported the theft of the ring, the report states. She told police she went into the upstairs master bathroom at around noon to change for the afternoon wedding and found two rings were missing.

The diamond ring is worth $4,500, the victim told police. A second ring, which had six different gem stones, representing her six grandchildren, also was gone.

The victim told cops that a new cleaning woman had come by the previous day.

No arrests were reported.
