Driver Narrowly Avoids Crashing into Propane Tanks at Menard's

Police and fire in the parking lot of Menard's were tending to an accident in which a driver stuck a tree and then hit a yellow barrier in front of the store.

Tinley Park police and fire were on the scene of a small car fire Monday afternoon around 3 p.m., after a driver mowed down a tree and crashed into a barrier in front of Menard's, 6851 W 159th St.

Firefighters weren't sure exactly what transpired, but said the driver was taken to an area hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries after striking the barrier near propane tanks.

The barrier is positioned in front of the propane tank to prevent vehicles from hitting the tanks and causing an explosion.
