Driver Socked in the Face at Speedway, Liquor Thieves Hit Jewel, and More

Also in the latest police reports, dated April 11 and 13-14, a man kicks a car and another is arrested on a warrant.

SATURDAY, APRIL 14

Driver Socked in the Face at Speedway 

Police are looking for a trio of men who violently approached those seated in a vehicle that was parked on the south side of the Speedway gas station at 7201 183rd St. in .

The men may have been intoxicated, according to an employee at the gas station. One of them walked up to the vehicle—unprovoked—and opened the front, driver's side door only to punch an 18-year-old driver in the face, the report said.

The three subjects then got into a vehicle and drove toward the Wendy's restaurant that's adjacent to the station, police said. Officers were working with staff at the Speedway on Monday to identify the suspects, one of whom may have used a Visa card to make a purchase prior to the incident.

Warrant Arrest

Ronald M. Grayer, 26, of the 18900 block of Hamlin Avenue in Flossmoor, was arrested around 5:20 p.m. in Homewood on two driving with a suspended license warrants—one out of and one out of Country Club Hills. His bail was set at $5,000. 

Man Kicks Car

A 23-year-old Palos Park man reportedly kicked the car door of an acquaintance around 5:30 p.m. in the 8600 block of Dogwood Court in . The victim said the suspect blocked his car in while he was in the driveway of a friend's house, according to the report.

The suspect then got out of his car, walked up to the victim's driver's side door and kicked it with his foot, leaving a dent behind. The victim said he's had problems with the suspect in the past. The suspect denied kicking the car and said he wouldn't go to the to speak with officers. No charges had been filed as of April 16. 

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 11

Liquor Thieves Hit Jewel 

Police were looking for liquor thieves this week who have been making their way around area grocery stores, stealing bottles of alcohol.

They most recently struck Jewel-Osco, 17171 S. Harlem Ave., , where a man reportedly placed about 10 bottles of liquor in a basket around 9:20 p.m. and walked out of the store without paying. The man is shown on surveillance footage getting into the passenger side of a black, four-door, Ford F-150 and leaving the scene, the report said.

Police said the truck had a steel rim on the rear passenger-side tire, which may be a spare. There was also a black cover over the bed of the truck. The offender was described by security as a white man with a thin build, short light brown hair and glasses. He was wearing a black jacket or sweatshirt with white cross bones on the back, police said. He also wore light colored jeans and white gym shoes.

Police said he has several distinct tattoos on both arms and the right side of his neck. About seven minutes after stealing liquor from the Tinley Jewel, the man stole booze from the Oak Forest Jewel-Osco, according to the police report.

The Orland Park Police Department recently posted an informational flier describing a similar incident with similar offenders, the report said. The liquor stolen on Wednesday was worth $337.70, police said.
