Driver to Police: 'I Have a Pipe in my Bra'

Tinley police arrested a 19-year-old woman and a juvenile who were found with about 37 grams of marijuana.

A routine traffic stop for a passenger's failure to wear a seat belt turned into a drug arrest Sunday night after police said they found three bags of weed in the backseat of an Oak Forest woman's car.

arrested Larissa L. Demakos, 19, of the 6200 block of Victoria Lane in Oak Forest around 10:55 p.m., according to the report. She was charged with delivery of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

When an officer walked up to the driver's side window of her 1988 Chrysler New Yorker near Harlem Avenue and 159th St. in , he smelled marijuana and saw three plastic sandwich bags filled with "a green leafy substance," the report said. Two Illinois state troopers who were in the area stopped to lend a hand in the vehicle search.

"I heard (one of the troopers) ask Demakos if she had anything on her she shouldn't have on her person," the report said. "Demakos stated, 'I have a pipe in my bra.'"

A juvenile who was in the passenger seat gave police a jar of pot that was on the floor in front of his chair, police said. He was also arrested.

In all police found between 75 and 100 clear plastic Ziplock bags, a digital scale and grinder, a bowl commonly used to smoke marijuana, the jar of weed and three bags of marijuana inside of the car, according to the report. They also found two 20 milligram pills in Demakos' purse, they said, and identified them as a prescription medicine similar to Adderall.

The three bags in the car contained 28 grams of marijuana and the jar had 11.9 grams inside, according to the report. All 36.9 grams field tested positive for pot, police said.

"Demakos stated that she picked the juvenile up from work and went to Orland Park to get cannabis," the report said. "She admitted that she got the pills from her friend and that she does not have a prescription for them."

The juvenile was issued a citation for not wearing a seat belt and police recommended that he be charged with one count of misdemeanor possession of marijuana, the report said.

Demakos was charged with one felony count of delivering marijuana, one felony count of possession of a controlled substance, one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
