Drug-Testing Firm Stole People's Identities, says Illinois Attorney General

A Richton Park man hooked scammers up with illegal Comcast cable service by stealing the identities of people who used his drug-screening business.

Roy Burks, 37, owned "Plus and Minus," a drug-testing company, and he took customers' names, Social Security numbers and birth dates, according to the Illinois Attorney General's office.

Burks then used the information to set up Comcast accounts for people with bad credit, opening more than 300 accounts, the attorney general alleges, and charging people $100 each. The identities of 230 people were stolen, but the scam unraveled when Comcast began reaching out to the people whose identities were stolen about unpaid bills.

Burks is charged with identity theft, theft by deception and wire fraud.
